Wildfire Ready Neighbors

South Mason Fire & Rescue is proud to partner with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources through the Wildfire Ready Neighbors program, a statewide initiative designed to help residents prepare their homes and properties for wildfire.

Wildfire Ready Neighbors provides homeowners and property owners with free tools, resources, and guidance to reduce wildfire risk. The program focuses on practical steps residents can take to better protect their homes, their families, and their communities from wildfire.

Through this program, residents can receive a personalized Wildfire Ready Plan that outlines specific actions to make their property more resilient to wildfire. These actions may include creating defensible space, reducing hazardous vegetation, improving home ignition resistance, and preparing for wildfire smoke and evacuations. Residents may also have the opportunity to schedule a free home visit with local wildfire experts to assess their property and provide tailored recommendations.

Wildfire preparedness is a community effort. By taking steps to prepare your home and working together with your neighbors, we can reduce wildfire risk and strengthen the safety and resilience of our entire community.
