Given the recent heat wave and predicted weather patterns for the near future, the National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS) for Mason County will be elevated from “Low” to “Moderate” on Friday June 19th. In accordance with County policy and to be consistent with the Dept. of Natural Resources, effective 1201 AM on Friday June 19, 2026, Permitted Land Clearing and Residential Fires will be prohibited on all Mason County lands. Please note that Recreational Fires (I.E. campfires, cooking and pleasure fires in a concrete, rock or steel ring) are still allowed but will also be restricted once the NFDRS is elevated to the “High” level. Your cooperation in helping keep Mason County fire safe this fire season is appreciated.
